    About Library

    Foundation Year for Central Library: 1994

    Library: The Institute has its own library with books, periodicals, CDs and other reports and journals. Students access the portal JGATE for e-books and journals in the library getting them access to more than 44,000 resources.

     The Library and Museum are accessed by students from Architecture, Engineering, Medical College and school teachers interested in environment education. The Museum and Activity Center is utilized by students throughout the year. The laboratories are used by the students for their dissertation work besides the regular practicals conducted for all classes.  The time table is organized so that the available space, lecture halls and computer facilities can be optimally utilized.  Slots are allotted for reading so that the students read the books, journals and periodicals in the library.

      Total area of the library (in Sq. Mts.): 112.44 sq meters (1210 sq feet)

    Total seating capacity: 45 students

    Working hours (on working days, on holidays, before examination, during examination, during vacation): The working hours are from 8.30 to 5.30 pm  but before 10 days of examination and during examination it is open from 8 am to 8 pm

    Layout of the library (individual reading carrels, lounge area for browsing and relaxed reading, IT zone for accessing e-resources):The library is  airy and has green ambience outside . Newspapers and magazines are properly displayed and are available for students to read. The library has both individual study areas and group study areas to allow for collaborative learning. The library has an IT zone with 10 computers with internet facilities for accessing e-resources.

    Clear and prominent display of floor plan; adequate sign boards; fire alarm; access to differently-abled users and mode of access to collection: Clear floor plan, sign boards, fire extinguishers are provided.

    A total of 2710 books, 449 thesis, 162 reports, 1941 periodicals (along with all back dated issues) are available in the library. The Institute subscribes to the following periodicals.

    Till date 449 thesis are available for reference to the students which is a huge resource.  They cover a very diverse range of topics in the fields of environment science, wildlife conservation and geoinformatics. The Institute uses the Soul software of Inflibnet for its library management system. Unlimited Internet facility for using inter-university facility like JGATE is given on 30 computers.

    All dissertations done by Masters Students both in-house as well as international, research publications of the Institute, and reports of various projects and from other institutions are kept for reference in the library in both hard copy and digital form.
