    The BVDU Yashwantrao Mohite College of Arts, Science and Commerce, Pune, Library plays a vital role in the collection development and dissemination of Arts, Science and Commerce  and related disciples information to meet the present and future needs of its users which includes students, researchers and faculty.

    The BVDU Yashwantrao Mohite College of Arts, Science and Commerce, Pune, is specialized library consisting of ____ documents on  Arts, Science and Commerce disciples. The library is fully computerized using SOUL integrated library management software. The collection of the library is available online through the web OPAC facility of the SOUL.

        MISSION

        “Library serves as resource Centre and aims to develop a comprehensive collection of reading materials are useful for (readers) of the college and to provide users an efficient dissemination of knowledge.”

        GOALS

        “To serve the academic needs of all library users. As a centre for collection of reading materials of all related subjects to develop a comprehensive collection of information required for teaching and reference purpose.  To acquire, organise resources to meet the present and future need of its users.”

        Library Resources

        College Library is the “Heart” of the institution and acts as a centre for the collection of reading materials predominantly related to Arts, Science and Commerce and develops a comprehensive collection of information that is useful for users and reference purpose.

        In the developing countries, all colleges maintain Libraries, as it is obligatory on the part of the college to have the Library. Our college Library was setup in July 1978 with only 876 books worth Rs. 9199/- and has expanded very fast during the past years. At present the 39 library  is having total collection of  45,606 Books worth of  Rs- 1,07,30,000/- & 1,05,000/- e-Books, 60 Prints Journals, 12100 e-journal and 1800 users used this resources in this Library.

         Location and Building

        The Library is housed in specious building on the ground floor.

        The Library consist mainly three sections: One is Boys section, second is girls section and third one is the faculty section.

        • Membership Eligibility:

                    1) Individual Members: Faculty Staff and Students of the college

        2) Corporate Members: Academic Institution and Other Organizations

        3) Outside Members: Alumni of College, Retired Faculty of college

        4) Special Members: Visiting Faculty

        •  ID / Smart Card ID:

                    I) ID/ Smart Card ID must be presented on demand.

                    II) This card is not transferable

        III) Members are responsible for the books borrowed against their ID / Smart Card ID / Borrow Cards.

        • Circulation of Study Material:

                    1) All books / journals / CDs must be returned on or before the due date.

                    2) Book will be renewed only if there is no demand from other members.

                    3) Books should be presented physically at the counter for renewal.

                    4) Late fee fine will be charged Re.1 per book per day.

                    5) Single copy of any publication is not issued on long term.

        6) The CDs/DVDs/Cassettes borrowed must be returned on the due date and if necessary get renewed.

        7)  Members are requested to check the condition of the reading material before getting issued.

                    8) Members are requested to collect the receipts for the overdue charges paid by them.

                    9) Member is requested to collect the receipt for each transaction.

        10) After check in or check out, members are requested to check the system for correct transactions.

        • Loss of Books:

        1) Loss of any book / reading material borrowed must be reported immediately to the library counter.

        2) All members must replace the book if it is lost with the latest edition along with overdue charges if any.

        3) However in the case of library members, if they are not able to replace the book, they are required to pay two times the latest price of the book / reading material and processing charges of Rs. 100 + overdue charges, if any.

        • Reminders:

                    Reminders are sent to each member through Letter / Telephone / email.

        • Reservation / renewal for Publications.

                    1) Only one reservation per member per book is allowed per day.

        2) Member can reserve the book through online reservation system. Intimation of reserved books is sent to the members through phone / mail.

        3) The reserved book must be collected within 7 days of the date of intimation, failing which the reservation is deemed to be cancelled and book may be issued to next member.

        4) Reservation slip is available at counter and slip can be submitted only during the working hours.

        • Procurement of Books / Reading Materials:

        Suggestions for the procurement of books are welcomed from the faculty / departments in the prescribed forms in the month of June / July every year.

         

        • Inter Library Loan or Document Delivery Service:

        Efforts are made to obtain documents from other libraries which are not available in the central library.

        • Access to Resource:

                    Members are permitted to use these facilities.

                    Open access facilities are made available for P.G. research students and faculty.

        • Organization of Collections:

        Section A – Reference Books (Dictionary, Year Books, Handbook, Encyclopaedia etc.)

                                B – CDs / DVDs

                                C – Bound Volumes

                                E – Recommended Reference Books according to syllabus

                                F – Text books

                                G – Current Journals

        Classification Scheme:

        D.D.C. 19th Ed. implemented in the library

        AACR II Cataloguing / OPAC

        OPAC service is made available for readers.

        • Book Bank Facility:

        By notification students are informed to apply to avail the Book Bank facility in month of June. Students belonging to weaker section, sportsmen as recommended by the library committee are registered as members of Book Bank Scheme. The entire sets of books are issued to them for the year free of cost.

        • Earn and Learn Scheme:

        Committee formed for Earn and Learn Scheme recommends students from weaker section. These students are involved in routine Library activities and are paid remuneration for the same

        • No Dues Certificate

        The members are required to surrender their IDs / Smart Cards / Borrow Cards along with the books and also to fill up the prescribed clearance form available at college office as and when they need no dues certificate from the Library.

        •  Refund of Library deposit:

        After getting ‘No Dues Certificate’ from library, members become eligible for refund of deposit.

        •  Suggestion and Complaints:

        Suggestion Box is kept in the library for suggestions and complaints from members, if any. 

        •  General Rules

        1) Readers are required to deposit their bags / belongings at the counter before entering the library.

                    2) Members should produce their smart card / ID cards to the library staff as and when

                         asked for.

                    3) Pin drop silence must be observed within the library.

                    4) Please do not underline, fold and tear the page of books / reading material.

        5) After use the reading material readers are requested not to put the books on the shelves.

        6) Personal belongings / books / study material except for return are not permitted to be brought inside the library. 

        7) Newly added books / study material will be displayed for 15 days in the entrance lobby during the 1st week of every month.

        8) Necessary action will be taken by the Principal / Library Committee against the users who are found misusing the services, facilities and collections etc.

        9) Smoking, chewing tobacco and spitting is strictly prohibited.

        10)  Care Of Library Material: Library reading materials are costly and often – They are for the benefit of not only the present but also future members of the library. Therefore one should not write upon, damage, turn down the leaves or mark on any library reading materials. No tracing or copying or any journals and thesis are allowed in the library.

        The above mentioned ruled are subject to periodical review and revisions.

          • EXTENSION ACTIVITIES

            Activities conducted to enhance the utilization of Library

              1) To create reading habit among the students.

                Ex. Book display-New Arrivals

             

            2) Open Access System made available for users.

             

            3) Book Bank Scheme

                      Book Banks Scheme started functioning in 1993.Specialy book sets provided to SC, ST, EBC students, weak and bright students can avail this facility of books through book bank scheme in free of charge. Every year more than 35 students took benefits of this facility.

             

                4) Earn and learn scheme.

                                    Every academic year two to five needy students participate in the Earn and Learn Scheme. At present two students are working in Library under the scheme.
